Feather tech talk, No. 4: Go Pros

[/media-credit] The Feather video journalists use GoPro Hero 3+ in many of their videos published on Vimeo.

New technology is continually evolving. Taking a look at gizmos and gadgets that peek our interest and make our jobs as photojournalists a little easier and fun. For the first in the series, read Feather tech talk, No. 3.

GoPro proves to be one of the best action cameras to capture content in any environment.

This company seeks to provide camera products unlike any other on the market. With their adaptable capability to film/photograph under water and every other terrain, this product is unlimited with its usefulness in the media industry.

Videos are the most popular function on the device but can also snap still pictures and time-lapse. This makes it versatile to use in video production or even recreational purposes.

Noise reduction to wind, Bluetooth connection, various modes and settings are some features of the GoPro. The newest and improved of these features are the latest models: GoPro Hero 7 Black, White and Silver. Black is the highest end, offering updated hyper-smooth stabilization at $400. Silver is midrange for $300 and white is the entry level of the new GoPro Heros and costs $200. All three Hero 7s are an improvement from previous Heros.

The GoPro Hero dates back to the birth of the company in 2002 by Nick Woodman who created a camera able to withstand filming him and his friends surfing. His invention soon took off and became a company known worldwide. Now over 26 million GoPros have been sold in countries all over the world.
