FC students finish out the 2018-19 school year with Disney-themed concert

Instrumental director Lesley Bannister and the FCS music program will present their spring concert, “The Music of Disneyland”, in the SMC, April 29, at 6:30 p.m.

[/media-credit] The band has rehearsed for “The Music of Disneyland” concert all second semester. The final concert of the school year will be in the SMC, April 29, at 6:30 p.m.

Six groups, from third-grade recorders, fourth-grade percussion and elementary band to the Eagle and FC bands, plus percussion ensemble, will play music from the rides, parades, and shows from Disneyland. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Ministries Center located on campus. It will end at 7:30 p.m.

The FC music department recently traveled to Heritage Festival in Anaheim. The FC Band achieved a gold award, the Eagle band received a silver award and percussion also received a silver award. Bannister is excited to see her students perform April 29.

“This year I decided to let the students choose the theme,” Bannister said. “I am excited to see all of our instrumentalists, from 3rd-grade recorders to the FC Band play this fun and entertaining music.

“Bannister said her favorite song is “Fantasmic”.

“It is an incredibly challenging piece of music and the FC Band has tackled it head-on,” Bannister said. “We will be opening the concert with that piece.”

Students will be dressed in Disney attire, and plan on a great evening will memorable music. Eligible high school student will also be receiving their varsity letters during the evening.
