[Reel] A Game of Chess

Chess club participants meet weekly to compete and strategize the game. The reel above showcases the competitiveness during an Oct.21 match-up.  Club members play classic games of chess, eat lunch and socialize together with biology teacher Jacob Cantu.

Beginning with FCS alumni Micah Sue, Chess Club has been uniting students together, going on three years, and has made lunch more enjoyable for many individuals. Anyone from 6-12 grade is welcome to engage in playing. Currently anywhere from 10-15 students participate each day.

The game of chess has been around for centuries and even experts continue to gain new understanding through repetitive play.

“You may learn much more from a game you lose than from a game you win. You will have to lose hundreds of games before becoming a good player”

Jose Raul Capablanca (Cuban chess champion from 1921 to 1927)

The next day Chess Club meets is Friday Nov.4.
