Home economic students compete in the cookie bake-off, Feb. 14. One week prior to the competition, teams obtain cookie recipes from Pinterest and submit the ingredients to teacher Kimberly Bell.
Once the recipes are selected Bell purchases all items required to make each batch of cookies. Participants are careful to measure the amount of ingredients necessary to produce a batch of 24 cookies.
Some of the cookies presented were Coffee Cake cookies, Raspberry Glaze Lemon Drop, and Neopolotain. During the final 20 minutes of class, each team submits their cookies to a group of judges.
One person from each team stands in front of all four judges and describes the idea behind their cookies. This year’s group of judges is composed of football coach Michael Fuller, math teacher Angie Counts, cheer coach Hope Villines, and Kimberly Bell’s son Landon Bell.
Ultimately the judges decided that the Neoplolotain cookie was the best by far. Members from team Neoplolotain include Gabe Johns’24, Donovan Guglielmana’24, Ella Slayden’24, and Colby Poplin’24.
