The whistle blows, and Fresno Christian athletes shift gears as the door to the playoffs creaks open. The intensity heats up from preseason to league play in the Northwest Sequoia League.
The Northwest Sequoia League features 10 teams consisting of Fresno Christian, Sierra, Caruthers, Fowler, Liberty, Riverdale, Parlier, Minarets, Chowchilla and Yosemite High School.
Teams flourish with undefeated league records, while others start slow, struggling to get over the hump.
FC Boys Basketball has dominated the start of league play, cruising toward a 3-0 undefeated record, picking up wins against Fowler, Yosemite and Caruthers High School. Leading their conference with an overall 18-1 record, the boys look to take off right where they left off last year with an astounding state championship run.
The Girls’ Basketball team ended the first week of league, going 0-3 against premier schools in Caruthers and Yosemite High School. Although the result does not meet the goal, with seven league games remaining in the season, the girls aim to take the reins and secure a winning record in the Northwest Sequoia League.
Fresno Christian Boys Soccer continues to grow, not only in terms of players but also in stature. The boys walked into league play, going 0-2-1 in Northwest Sequoia to start off the season with a 2-7-3 overall record. Despite the wins and losses, the boys have grown closer as teammates and a collective unit, while building up chemistry. With considerable time left in league season, expect FC boys soccer to make a late-season push with hopes of clinching a playoff spot.

After an unbelievable State Championship second-place finish, FC Girls Soccer knew they had something special. Looking to defend their Valley Championship against Porterville High School last year, the girls came out hot, going 3-0 in league, picking up dominant wins against Yosemite and Caruthers High School. Starting the season with an unbelievable 12-1-1 overall record, the girls prove once again they are the team to beat, showing no signs of slowing down.
Be sure to come out and support your Eagles as each team looks ahead towards the playoffs.
