Entering girls soccer senior night, Fresno Christian held a record of 13-1-1; another win was not the only thing on the line. Meghan Connolly, ’26, set her eyes on a personal goal she had been tracking all season. Connolly broke the Fresno Christian Schools record, hitting 100 goals and 101 assists, defeating Sierra, 10-0, Jan. 27.
Having played since she was three years old, this milestone showcases the impressive achievement of her career that is built on consistency, teamwork and leadership. Connolly began her senior season with 65 goals and 67 assists accumulated during her previous three varsity years, putting her within reach of such a never-before-seen achievement.
“I went into senior night with 99 goals and 98 assists. I set myself up perfectly. I [said], I’m not risking this,” Connolly said. “This was my goal to get on senior night. This would be so cool.”
Connolly’s performance reflects her hard work and dedication. Beyond the stats, her ability to set up scoring opportunities for herself and teammates separates her from the pack.
Fresno Pacific University’s soccer director and head girls coach Jamie Ramirez recognizes Connolly’s talent.
“In the Valley, I have not heard of any male or female player who has done that. We know that there are players out there who have scored over 100 goals in their career, but not assists. That is an incredible balance. To be that balanced, I really think that Meghan is ready to go to the next round.”
Connolly is excited to continue dominating her senior season as she aims to leave a positive impact on the FC program.
