Dear Editor,
I appreciate that The Feather covered our team’s first competition back in five years. This is my second year on the cheer team and I was very excited yet nervous about performing. The day started off early and we arrived at the Ainley’s house at 7:30 a.m. I think this article did a good job at describing the stressful morning.
A lot of the girls were anxious during warm ups but we got most of our nerves out with our time on the mats. I was particularly stressed because the other teams would stop what they were doing and watch us while we practiced. But it was also motivating because it made me want to work harder so that we would not mess up.
After our performance, I felt relieved that it was over and there was nothing else we could do because we left it all out on the mat. During awards, our division was the last one to be announced and our anxiety grew with every name they said. Once we were announced the winners, I was beyond excited that we accomplished this goal. However, the job was not done because we had another competition this past Saturday at Buchanan for the CIF Cheer and Dance Competition.
We had some pretty tough competitors and also had one of our girls, Kaylie Ferguson, break her ankle the night before. We had to change our entire routine the morning of the competition and the entire team was nervous and you could see it during warm ups. However, I was extremely proud of our team pulling it off and getting fourth place. Our team has another competition this weekend at Azusa Pacific and everyone’s prayers would be appreciated.

I am extremely proud of this team! Even through injuries, we overcame!
