Senior and student body president Roman Endicott contributes a monthly column as part of his leadership commitment to his peers. This is is final column as Endicott will graduate May 24 as an “FC Lifer.”

Dear FC students,

There are a few things you should know before you step into high school.

First and foremost, the next four years of your life will be your most unique experience and be just as unforgettable. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so I will leave out the specifics.

You should thank your brother and sister for establishing a legacy before you at Fresno Christian, and you will have the advantage of walking on a paved road at first. Soon enough, you will divert onto a new road, pioneering your own path.

There are going to be times when things don’t go exactly the way that you plan them, but you will eventually learn to adapt and make something even better out of the situation. You will have to let go of old friends, but new ones will enter your life with whom new and even more exciting adventures await.

You may lose sight of what is really important for a while, but I promise you will get back on track before long. The assignments won’t get any easier, but you will be able to handle more and more as you get older.

There will be some breakdowns along the way because you will have a lot of responsibilities, but finishing will be that much more satisfying once you accomplish everything you set out to do. You will find hope in places you didn’t expect, and joy in people you never would have thought of.

There are so many amazing things in store for you in high school, and it will feel like it is taking forever when you are in the thick of it. Once you get to the end, though, you will look back and it will feel like just moments have passed.

There will be moments when you question if it is all worth it, and I can assure you that every ounce of effort you put in will pay off. Once you finish high school, it is a feeling unlike any other.

At first you will be somewhat perplexed and sad at the thought of such massive change awaiting you in the near future, but soon enough you will develop a remarkable excitement for the inspiring endeavors that lie ahead. Take in every moment, and everything will feel right at graduation.

Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Student Body President Roman Endicott will be attending Fresno Pacific University in the fall and plans on majoring in pre pharmacy.
