Football returns to the field for the 2019 season with a 24-0 victory over Sierra HS, Aug 23. Lead by head coach Russ Counts, the Eagles proved their ability to dominate defensively despite graduating 12 seniors.
Seconds into the game, running back Blake Burdan, ’20, scored six for the Eagles on a kick-off return. Burdan scored 12 points and earned 50 rushing yards.
Students in The Nut House came out in force for the first home game of the year.

While Fresno Christian headed to the locker room with a 6-0 lead, they did so without starting QB Nathan Edwards, ’22, who left the game with a wrist injury. Edwards will not return for FC’s next game at Rosamond HS.
Senior Mason Blowers filled Edward’s spot for the remaining three quarters, and helped put 18 more points on the board. He completed his first touchdown pass to Seth Yancey, ’21, with 2:35 left on the clock.
Bryce Foshee spoke with Yancey after the game about the TD reception.
Eagle defense held the Sierra Chieftains to 128 yards of total offense, and forced three turnovers. Matt Kent, ’23, grabbed a fumble in his first Friday-night game.
Bryce Foshee interviewed Kent about his highlights from the game.
The Eagles face Rosamond HS in an away game next week, Aug 30. Their next home game is Sept. 27, versus Stone Ridge Christian. For more highlights, visit The Feather’s Instagram and Twitter.
