National Day of Prayer 2023

National+Day+of+Prayer+2023

Fresno Christian students, teachers and parents gather together to celebrate the annual all-school National Day of Prayer chapel, May 4. The songs and praises filled the morning air as dozens of students gathered in the auditorium, with worship being led by elementary, middle and high school students.

The National Day of Prayer is always celebrated on the first Thursday of May. Former President Harry S. Truman signed the National Day of Prayer law in 1952. The National Day of Prayer welcomes people to pray for the nation, city and school leadership. Prayer is followed by a short message from Principal Amy Deffenbacher.

Junior Serenity Cortez’s favorite part of the National Day of Prayer is seeing the whole school come together and pray over what they have on their hearts. Cortez talks about how much she loved singing for the National Day of Prayer.

“I think it’s a big responsibility to sing and worship on the National Day of Prayer,” Cortez said. “But when I’m up there I only have God as my audience.”

The high school worship team sang “All Hail King Jesus” and “Father’s House.”

The middle school worship team sang “House of the Lord” and “I Thank God.”

Kristin Eldridge’s second grade class performed “As the World Shakes.”
