BOYS’ TENNIS 2012

FC PROVES VICTORIOUS OVER FOWLER–April 19
After a tough loss against Caruthers the Eagles were looking for a win against the Fowler Redcats. FC came ready to play, winning multiple matches right off the bat. In the end, the Eagles defeated the Redcats 7-2, April 19.

Doubles duo Brady Lee, ’12, and Brandon Porter, ’13, had a tough obstacle in front of them. They had previously lost to Fowler?s No. 1 doubles players, 3-8. Rather than playing with fear, Lee and Porter came out with confidence. They ended up beating their opponents 8-2.

Coach Rob Foshee thought his team executed soundly against the Redcats. He hopes their strong play can carry over to their match against Dos Palos.

“I thought the top of our ladder really played well,” Foshee said. “Hopefully we can use this as a stepping stone so we can get ready for Dos Palos next week. They?ve only lost one match in league and we?ve lost two. It will be nice to see how we match up to them.”

No. 3 singles player Jacob Williams, ’12, defeated his opponent 8-1. Though there were some mental problems going on, Williams feels like his team overcame obstacles and played strongly.

“When it comes tournament time they have to make sure that they’re mentally strong just as well as physically strong for the sport,” Williams said. “I think as as team we had fun and did well.”

After all the matches were over, Lee performed magic tricks to the Redcats. Players from both teams came to center court to watch and enjoy the illusions. Although FC defeated Fowler, the chemistry between the opponents was good. After closing prayer, the Redcats traveled over to John’s Incredible Pizza to enjoy a team meal.

The Eagles will next travel to face the Dos Palos Mustangs, April 24.
