Homecoming Happily Ever After: Day 4

With a name of, ‘A Happily Ever After Homecoming,’ it is obvious that the theme this year is Disney. Last year’s, ‘Homecoming for Humanity‘ tradition of donating to a non-profit organization continues. This year, class floats will sell various goods and donations will be accepted for Kids on a Mission.

Kids on a Mission is a faith-based organization with ties all around the world. Their mission is to, “To empower kids, develop their leadership and communication skills, connect them to projects, mobilize kids and partners, give our time, talents and treasures to serve kids in poverty and impact the world for God’s glory.”

Today is day 4 of homecoming week, Oct. 4, the day before the big night, Oct. 5. Students dress up in their tropical wear for Moana’s Tropical Thursday, turning the school into a tropical paradise, wearing floral shirts, leis, and sun hats.

During chapel, students enjoy the Royal Battle put on by the senior kings and queens. The kings and queens take turns in a dance battle which they have been working on for weeks in advance. Judges, Greg Stobbe, Angie Counts, and Michelle Logan choose the queens as the victors of the battle.

Due to Wednesday’s rain, Kajabi can can is rescheduled to today. Students watch as princess and queen candidates drag one another around a trash can. Princess candidate Rylee Schwab, ‘21, took the win for the Sophomores.

“I liked today’s pageant because it was fun to get to play interactive games with the other girls,” Schwab said. “The pageants are fun because it makes you feel like your really in the homecoming court and it’s just something different from what you do every day at lunch.”

The video below is a recap of homecoming day 4.
