The Feather staff travels to Yosemite National Park to celebrate a year of stuggle and subsequent overcoming to put their camera and videography skills to the test, April 16. Because journalism conferences were canceled this school year, Yosemite is the only place the staff has journeyed to outside of the school.

Adviser Kori James, along with her brother, husband, and co-adviser Greg Stobbe, escorted the 14-member strong team. The Mist Trail lived up to its name. Following the slick and slippery path, the group climbed up wet granite stairs to reach the top of Vernal Falls.

After stopping for a picnic lunch, the staffers returned and walked to Yosemite Falls. Some students climbed through caves along the trail before packing up to return to Fresno. In total, the team hiked 5.5 miles.

While at Yosemite, the team was challenged to participate in two contests. The first was for the best Instagram post, story, or reel. The second competition was for the best picture, which is to be determined by an anonymous public vote. The winner will get their photo enlarged and framed as well as bragging rights.

To those who wish to visit Yosemite, keep in mind the national park will reinstitute a reservation system that is needed to enter the park. It is designed to reduce the speed of coronavirus during peak tourism season, from May 21 to September 30.
