To pay respects to a fallen sheriff, 6,000 officers gather at Peoples Church sanctuary for a memorial service, March 3. Recently, sheriff Joel Wahlenmaier was shot and killed in Minkler, CA, while in the line of duty.
Wahlenmaier was serving a warrant to a suspected arsonist, but the arsonist opened fire, fatally wounding Wahlenmaier as well as Reedley Police department’s Javier Bejar. Wahlenmaier served in the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department for 12 years.
